Summer Bazaar at V-Excel Educational Trust

The academic year 2020-21 has come to an end. This unusual year of the pandemic brought new challenges and in overcoming them, new opportunities for our students and teachers. Most of the year spent at home with only online guidance, and the last four months of limited attendance resulted in some consciously crafted collaborations! Conscious because we have learnt to up-cycle, reuse, and reduce waste. We also learnt to work through our fears and create something using our head, heart and hands.

This year the two new themes that have emerged have been Home Decor and Children’s collections! Machine stitching, simple running stitches, blanket stitches and quilting were explored. Simple crafts made out of wood, coconut shells, jute, paper, have been transformed into useful and aesthetic articles to be used at home, offices and as gifts. We also have our regular products that you are familiar with - food, candles, bags, printables and jewellery.

A reflection
Akshaya Nathan, a young writer with autism at our centre said about these times - "We are all locked in. There is nowhere to go. The only place to go is higher." So in our collaboration we have strived to take one new step as individuals who came together. This has been the theme for our summer bazaar. To accept human errors and variance in hand crafts is a beautiful lesson in compassion. Nimble fingers that have stitched and cut have made new friends with themselves and new abilities.

A note of gratitude
Every time you buy a product from V-Excel, you are actually endorsing inclusion and empowering persons with disabilities. This is a gesture of faith and your way of embracing differences.

Come and help us build bridges between our worlds. Let us exchange love and warmth through our creations. This can be a step forward in changing the world from ‘they’ and ‘I’ to a resounding 'US'!

Thank you for your interest in our efforts!
